How do you make the edges of your leather shoes softer?

purplecat asked:

You know, on the heel and around the toe area. New shoes almost always hurt and leave me with blisters. After I wear them for a while, the leather softens and then it’s fine. Is there any way to soften leather on the shoe? Without damaging it, obviously:)

I think you can buy a kind of “polish” for leather that also softens it
